It works by specifically inhibiting squalene epoxidase, an enzyme essential for the synthesis of ergosterol, a vital component of the fungal cell membrane. This disrupts the cell membrane, leading to the death of the fungus. Lamisil is indicated for the treatment of a wide range of fungal infections where oral therapy is considered appropriate due to the site, severity or extent of the infection, including: Onychomycosis (fungal nail infection) caused by dermatophyte fungi Tinea capitis (scalp ringworm) Fungal infections of the skin, including Tinea corporis (ringworm), Tinea cruris (jock itch), and Tinea pedis (athlete's foot) Yeast infections of the skin caused by the genus Candida (e.g., Candida albicans) Composition Each tablet contains: Terbinafine: 250 mg Directions for Use As directed by the physician
