Dafo 5 mg tablet contains Dapagliflozin, a selective sodium‑glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor used as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults and pediatric patients aged 10 years and older with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It also reduces the risk of cardiovascular death, heart failure hospitalization, and kidney function decline in adults with type 2 diabetes and established cardiovascular disease or multiple cardiovascular risk factors. Dapagliflozin works by blocking glucose reabsorption in the kidneys, increasing urinary glucose excretion, and thereby lowering blood glucose levels in an insulin‑independent manner with a low risk of hypoglycaemia.
