Xultophy® works by combining the effects of insulin degludec, a long-acting insulin analog, and liraglutide, a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist. Insulin degludec helps to lower blood sugar levels by increasing the uptake of glucose into cells, while liraglutide promotes the release of insulin and inhibits the release of glucagon, thereby reducing blood glucose levels.
