Neomycin belongs to a group of medicines known as aminoglycosides. It is an antibiotic which has bactericidal activity against gram-negative aerobic bacilli and some anaerobic bacilli. This medicine is used to decrease the risk of infection after certain intestinal surgeries. Neomycin is used to prevent hepatic (liver) encephalopathy and hypercholesterolemia. It also helps in reducing the symptoms of a hepatic (liver) coma. Composition Each vaginal capsule contains: Neomycin sulfate: 35000 IU Polymyxin B sulfate: 35000 IU Nystatin: 100000 IU Directions for Use 1 capsule at bedtime for 12 days For vaginal insertion Do not swallow Use as directed by the physician.
